8/29/2020 9:58:03pm - It is a peaceful night on the quad. Cool lights line the sidewalk effectively lighting the entire quad. It is easy to see people and the color of the clothes that they’re wearing. The grass looks like a dull green. The top of Foellinger Auditorium is lit up with warm lights revealing the shape of the dome. Below the steps of Foellinger Auditorium, the COVID-19 Testing Tent is illuminated from within. The waxing gibbous moon is bright and high in the clear sky, surrounded by bright stars.

9/1/2020 6:30:27pm - Tonight we lit the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts red in support of #wemakeevents. The white steps of the amphitheater reflect the bold red light. The red light inside the Foellinger Great Hall lobby is softer. The rain mists down onto the lights sizzling against the hot lights. The sky is bright, cloudy, clouds move fast. The brick’s color is muted by the singular red wavelength. When I go into the amphitheater for a while and then leave, my eyes are fatigued and the world looks green.

9/19/2020 6:30:27pm - It’s a peaceful September sunset. It’s golden hour. The gold sun is shining through the green leaves of the trees, creating a green light and dark pattern. A beam of light shines through on the ground, reflects off of a concrete post. A sodium vapor light lights from the top underneath a walkway.

9/19/2020 6:37:46pm - The sun is low to the ground shining down Daniel street straight to the quad. A large beam of golden light shines through, blasting color and intensity.

9/29/2020 10:10:02pm - The full moon is out tonight. The moon is a cool bright white. The sky is a dark muted blue. The white clouds are backlit by the moon and move slowly across the sky, sometimes overlapping each other. It is easy to see everything tonight in the soft moonlight.

10/8/2020 10:24:08am - Dynamics class. Four no color lights. A source four, two broads, one fresnel. We watched the shadows on the wall of the actors as they walked by neutrally. The main focus was the shadow on the wall, not the actors themselves.

10/10/2020 12:06:44am - I have a system of warm and cool front and back lights. It is warm on SR and cool on SL. The backlights are strong, outlining the actors from the back black textured wall. The cool light feels eerie and a bit uncomfortable while the warm light feels longing and soft.

10/16/2020 7:18:08pm - I lit the KCPA COVID testing tent for an Illinois Theatre Halloween event. I used up lighting on the walls alternating in orange and purple to create a background. The orange and purple ombre’d together across the walls. On the tent's ceiling I had lights which slowly faded through all of the colors. This effect bounced off of the ceiling and back down softly onto the audience to create a dynamic environment.

10/22/2020 2:29:00pm - The fountain had been dyed orange for fall and Halloween. Shooting up from the fountain, the orange water contrasted with the bright blue sky. The high sun backlit the water and illuminated the mist, creating a glow. Some clouds were white, some grey. They moved across the sky slowly. The sun reflected off of the roof of the Levis Faculty Center. There was a lot of contrast in this environment. There were very bright areas and very dark areas of shadow.

10/29/2020 8:30:44pm - Alma Mater is lit by two diagonal front lights. The folds in her sculpted robes create lines of shadow. The color tone is a warm brown. She contrasts with the dark, blue, grey cloud covered sky. Altgeld tower glows a bright sodium vapor orange behind her. The whole area is brightly lit by soft white lights which distributed light in all directions.

11/1/2020 2:07:15pm - The quad is in the sun. The sidewalks are shadowed and textured by the trees which line the sidewalk. The trees are a variety of amber, yellow, green, red, and brown. As people walk and run down the sidewalk they come in and out of small areas of light. The bright clear blue sky is behind the trees. The colors feel joyful and peaceful.

11/2/2020 5:06:35pm - I've never seen a sunset like this one. The red brick of Krannert Center can hardly be seen as it is contrasted by one of the most beautiful sunsets I've ever seen. From the horizon, up, the colors ombre’d from a warm gold to a soft orange to a unsaturated pink, to a light purple to a lavender sky. The sunset was ephemeral. These colors only appeared as the sun was low. Within 5 minutes, the colors faded towards grey and the sky began to darken.

11/6/2020 2:34:18pm - My warm brown-red stained wooden dresser was lit by the low bright sun. I was most drawn to the linear lines from the drawer itself and the contrasting dark shadows which my blinds created.

11/13/2020 6:12:10pm - I lit the KCPA Amphitheater with diagonal up lighting. The blue color gave a solemn mood to the scene. I used side light with no color to light the actors faces. Since the actors were seen, this helped them to be heard and to see the action on stage. The audience sitting on the amphitheater steps were in the lighting environment I created. They were a part of the world of the play.
